The Open Road ... Summer 2007

I have personally been blessed by the unprecedented volunteerism of the ECC members who come forward to take on the volunteer positions within the organization. Marilyn Kendall Smith is one of the latest arrivals and I, as Chair of the Board of Directors welcome her on behalf of ECC members and the Board.

Marilyn Kendell Smith
Marilyn Kendall Smith, who lives in Sechelt, BC was recently appointed 2nd Vice President for Edgar Cayce Canada. As well, she volunteered to take on the coordination of the national Spiritual Growth Study Group program. The ECC organization structure is designed with two Vice Presidents shadowing the President to allow continuity and consistency in leadership. Marilyn will move up to President at some future date.
Marilyn comes to us with not only extensive experience with volunteer organizations but a keen passion for the Cayce 'work' in Canada.
In her own words, “My first introduction to Edgar Cayce came in Many Mansions at the age of eighteen. From that time a continuing quest for knowledge led me to the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.). I am privileged to have met the Bros, McGareys, Hugh Lynn, Charles Thomas, the Sechrists, the Puryears, Mark Thurston, Robert Grant, Kimberley Clark Sharpe, Kevin Todeschi and Carole Chapman. These people have enriched my life.
“I have followed the Cayce concepts throughout my life from using the health remedies (even on my dogs), to the daily spiritual application of the Cayce material.
“During a particularly tragic time for my family, my mother had eight strokes under by-pass surgery and my father was dying of ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease. I know that without my knowledge of the Cayce concepts, the six years of intense suffering experienced by them would have been unbearable. When my parents died I experienced a sense of euphoria, I knew that they had given me a ‘gift’ for spiritual growth, and I accepted that gift with gratitude.
“Edgar Cayce and E.C.C./A.R.E. have opened up the Universe to me: from astrology, dream interpretation, reincarnation, Atlantis, Egypt, Jesus, Buddha, prayer and now I have time to devote in a small way my talents earned to the ‘work’ in Canada through volunteering with Edgar Cayce Canada.”
